Official Spanish exams
Grupo PresencialDELE (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language):
-
Purpose: DELE exams are official assessments that certify the level of competence and skills in Spanish for individuals whose native language is not Spanish.
-
Levels: There are six DELE levels ranging from A1 (beginner) to C2 (advanced), aligning with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
-
Content: DELE exams assess skills in reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and interaction, and oral expression and interaction.
-
Format: DELE exams may vary in duration and format depending on the level but typically include a combination of multiple-choice questions, short answers, essays, and oral tasks.
-
Recognition: DELE certificates are widely recognized worldwide and accepted by academic institutions, employers, and government agencies as proof of Spanish language proficiency.
SIELE (International Service for the Evaluation of Spanish Language):
-
Purpose: SIELE is a digital exam that assesses Spanish language skills for non-native speakers but is more flexible and adaptable to different contexts of Spanish language use.
-
Levels: SIELE is scored on a scale from 0 to 1000 points and is not divided into specific levels like DELE. Results are presented on a global scale and in four specific competencies: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and interaction, and oral expression and interaction.
-
Content: SIELE assesses the same skills as DELE but offers greater flexibility in terms of task and topic selection.
-
Format: SIELE is a digital exam taken online, allowing candidates to choose when and where to take it. Each competency is assessed independently, meaning candidates can choose to take one or more sections as needed.
-
Recognition: SIELE is widely accepted and recognized worldwide, especially in academic and professional settings.
In summary, both DELE and SIELE are official Spanish language exams that certify language proficiency. DELE exams focus on specific levels and follow a standardized format, while SIELE offers flexibility in terms of content and format, making it suitable for various assessment needs and contexts. Both exams are valuable for those looking to demonstrate their Spanish language skills.
The DELE Spanish diplomas are official certificates accrediting the level of competence and mastery of the Spanish language. They are awarded by the Cervantes Institute on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.
To obtain these certificates, exams are offered from level A1 to C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The student can choose which level they want to take.
The DELE is a necessary requirement for working or studying in many places in Spain. Furthermore, DELE diplomas do not expire!
Every year, registration dates for the DELE exam are announced. The exam consists of four tests and takes place during fixed sessions that the Cervantes Institute announces annually. It requires prior registration and a fee ranging from 100 to 200 euros depending on the level. You can check the dates and all registration information here
How can I prepare for the DELE exam? At ILE Spanish School, we can prepare you for the exam at any level of the CEFR (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) that you want to take.
